shucks…

Well, school is over. I finished my last exam around 9am on Thursday. It’s a weird feeling. Part of me is really glad to be done, but at the same time I am excited to go back in September. There’s some pretty sweet people that won’t be around next year that I will miss, but there will also be a bunch of noobs, so it will all balance out.

Now I’m just waiting for final marks to trickle in… I’m hoping for a bit higher average than last semester…

The fun is just starting though, because now I get to work with bugs/reptiles and amphibians for 2 months, doing classroom presentations in elementary schools. It is for sure the most enjoyable job I’ve ever had. Not one class is the same as the last, it’s always an adventure. At the same time, I’m still doing part-time with Canadian Closet Solutions, measuring for shelving and stuff. That is for sure the best part-time job I could have because it’s so flexible… July and August are sort of a question mark at this point, not sure if I’ll have full time work with Canadian Closet Solutions or not, we’ll see when the time nears.

Not sure what else to say, I need to get ready to go do another presentation this afternoon. That’s another great part of the bug job, the breaks. After doing 2 presentations at Garneau (kindergarten kids… those are fun) I have an almost 2 hour break before I have to be at the next school, which is only a 20 minute drive away. So I enjoyed an iced chai latte at Steeps, while I blog and figure out the best way to get to the school (thanks google maps).

That’s all for now.

1 down, 2 to go

It’s final exam time… today was Cross Cultural Studies, and to be honest, I think I did pretty well. The written part was relatively straightforward, but the True & False was pretty cryptic, I didn’t even know what some of the questions were asking, and the others were just stupid. Mostly just trying to make you lose marks…

Tomorrow is Theology I, it should be alright, I’m not too worried. I’ve gone over my notes a few times and went over my workbook and definitions.

The only exam I’m only actually worried about is Isaiah, which is on Thursday… I haven’t studied enough for that one… that’s what I’ll be doing all day tomorrow.

I can pretty much smell Thursday 10am right now… it has felt like school has been over since last Wednesday, but alas… I’m still 36 hours away from the end. I suppose that isn’t too bad.

Oh, and $236 later, my car is fixed… just some stupid hoses… flippin lame.

MacJournal

I pretty much love this little piece of software… it’s the reason why I’m posting more regularly (hopefully that continues). It’s a nice simple little application that lets me post things to my blog, as well as post other journal entries.

There are more features than those that I use, of that I am sure, but right now it’s just nice to have a simple little application that allows me to write for this blog from anywhere, regardless of access to the internet.

I know that was possible already, but MacJournal makes it so slick. That’s why I love it.

Grease monkeys

So, my “check engine” light came on the other day… and since I had the day off today, I decided that it would be wise to go get it diagnosed and fixed…

59.99 for the initial diagnostic test…. which discovers 3 “codes”… 3 codes = around an hour and a half… so I get a phone call telling me this, letting me know that it’ll cost around 232 dollars to just figure out what is wrong, and then they let me know if there are any additional parts that are needed to fix the problem.

Needless to say, I’m not thrilled about it.

Not to mention that it means that I won’t get my car back today… thankfully, at this moment, my family of 3 has 4 vehicles… which is ridiculous, but it’s a good thing right now, because I have an exam at 8am tomorrow.

I wish I lived downtown and could use the LRT for all my transportation needs.

Stolen cameras and other momentous occasions

So, my camera was stolen from my locker at Vanguard College on April 15th between 7:50 and 8:10PM… which is super lame. I think the thing that bugs me isn’t so much just the fact that I spent around $800 on everything that was in my bag, its the fact that I spent so much time searching for and deciding on a camera before finally winning this auction on eBay. Having it stolen from my locker just blows, plus the bag it was in was from New Zealand, so I’m not replacing that anytime soon.

Luckilly for me I have a Lowepro camera/laptop bag… it’s massive. It was massive before, when I at least had a camera, and a couple batteries and such… but now I have nothing. I have a camera bag and a tripod. yay.

What I’m torn about now is whether I wait to buy a different camera (looking at the Rebel XSi) investing a bit more money, but getting a better camera… or whether I look to simply replace what I had. It’s something that will have to wait regardless, because I don’t have the money at this moment to buy a new camera.

On a lighter note, I am nearly done my first year of college. After countless assignments, a few all-nighters and some pretty lame classes, my first year is just 3 exams away from being complete. I can’t wait for 10AM on Thursday…
