Grease monkeys

So, my “check engine” light came on the other day… and since I had the day off today, I decided that it would be wise to go get it diagnosed and fixed…

59.99 for the initial diagnostic test…. which discovers 3 “codes”… 3 codes = around an hour and a half… so I get a phone call telling me this, letting me know that it’ll cost around 232 dollars to just figure out what is wrong, and then they let me know if there are any additional parts that are needed to fix the problem.

Needless to say, I’m not thrilled about it.

Not to mention that it means that I won’t get my car back today… thankfully, at this moment, my family of 3 has 4 vehicles… which is ridiculous, but it’s a good thing right now, because I have an exam at 8am tomorrow.

I wish I lived downtown and could use the LRT for all my transportation needs.

Stolen cameras and other momentous occasions

So, my camera was stolen from my locker at Vanguard College on April 15th between 7:50 and 8:10PM… which is super lame. I think the thing that bugs me isn’t so much just the fact that I spent around $800 on everything that was in my bag, its the fact that I spent so much time searching for and deciding on a camera before finally winning this auction on eBay. Having it stolen from my locker just blows, plus the bag it was in was from New Zealand, so I’m not replacing that anytime soon.

Luckilly for me I have a Lowepro camera/laptop bag… it’s massive. It was massive before, when I at least had a camera, and a couple batteries and such… but now I have nothing. I have a camera bag and a tripod. yay.

What I’m torn about now is whether I wait to buy a different camera (looking at the Rebel XSi) investing a bit more money, but getting a better camera… or whether I look to simply replace what I had. It’s something that will have to wait regardless, because I don’t have the money at this moment to buy a new camera.

On a lighter note, I am nearly done my first year of college. After countless assignments, a few all-nighters and some pretty lame classes, my first year is just 3 exams away from being complete. I can’t wait for 10AM on Thursday…

T-minus 20 days and counting…

I can’t believe it, there’s only 2 weeks left of classes. 20 days from now I’ll have finished my last Final Exam, and will enjoy a freedom that at this time I can only dream of. I can’t wait. It’s gonna be glorious. I really need to start updating this thing more often, on a somewhat regular basis. Although even now, I don’t know what to say. What do people really want to know about my life? Most likely nothing, because I don’t really know who would read this (I know you’re reading this Beth…but who else). Anyways, I have one assignment left to do for next week, and then all I have to do is study… yay! I can’t wait. I should get ready for class… 2 more hours of classes, then the weekend… I’m pumped.

Whoah… long time no update…

It has been far too long since I’ve written in this forsaken blog. Life has been moving quickly this past month and a half, can’t wait for school to let out, even though I love it… it’ll be great to have 4 months off to hype me up for next year.
1 more month to go, then I get to do the greatest job in the world: work with bugs and kids. I’m flippin’ stoked.

Golly, there’s so much that I want to say, but I don’t even know where to start. I really want to make steps towards consistently creating something… music, poetry, photographs, whatever… I just feel like that is part of my life that I haven’t been fully tapping into. Saying that on a blog won’t change things, but if I start making goals, then maybe something will come.

That’s all for now…

Ebony and Ivory

So, I’ve learned something in the last week… I’m not completely lost when it comes to touching a piano… I sat down last Thursday trying to figure out “Yellow” by Coldplay (I had figured it out on guitar, so I figured I could do it)… now it has become an addiction. A stress release. Incredibly calming… spiritually relaxing. I can’t go a few hours without having the desire to tickle those keys. weird

Right now, I’m in the later half of my modular course… 2 more days(ish) until I’m done the classes, I don’t really know if I like doing an entire course in a week, but at the same time, I wouldn’t really want to do this particular class (Foundations of Children and Family Ministry) any other way. I’m just frustrated that I have just a few days left to get all my assignments handed in by Tuesday (And I don’t want to have to work on it next week, so this week is crazy).

OH! and I finally got my camera (and lens filters/compact flash card) which is super exciting, and now I’ll be posting my favorites on Flickr! so my sidebar will look cooler with some recent pictures. If anyone else reads this, go ahead and comment on pictures… (I’m kind of assuming that no one else wants to read my thoughts/what goes on in my life, or at least not in blog form)
